As of September 2026, based on our research we did – an exotic car rental in NYC costs anywhere from $450 to $900 a day for a car such as Porsche 911 or Corvette C8, it costs $1,000 to $1,900 a day for a Lamborghini Urus or Huracán, $950 to $3,000 a day for a Ferrari depending on which model you want, and $1,500 to $4,000 a day for a Rolls-Royce.
The numbers we quoted are general ranges, and should be considered starting point for a conversation. That’s the base rate for the car, self-driven, before anything else touches the bill. Often, the base rate is just the starter, but most people take more expensive, and custom models.
Everything else you get touches the bill and lifts it up. New York state also taxes car rentals at close to 21%. When you take a car, most car rental operators will put a hold of $3,000 to $10,000 on your credit card. Some will accept cash as well. Then there’s other addons you have to consider, for example a delivery to a Manhattan hotel runs $150 to $300 each way. This is standard, industry wide pricing. If you go through your mileage limit, then for some of the most exotic cars you’re paying up to $5 a mile.

How much is tax on an exotic car rental in New York?
Just under 21% in the five boroughs. New York State charges a 6% special tax on every passenger car rental, plus a second 6% supplemental tax on rentals delivered or used inside the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District – New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange and Dutchess. Add the city’s 8.875% combined sales tax and you’re at 20.875% on the rental charge. On Long Island, including the Hamptons, sales tax is 8.625%, so the all-in is about 20.6%. Often, some luxury car rental companies will agree to take cash, in order to reduce this price. There are many legal technicalities used to get around this, and deliver a lower net price to the customer.
What’s the security deposit on an exotic car rental in NYC?
$3,000 to $10,000, held on a real credit card, and it depends on the car you’re getting. A Urus generally costs around $3,000 to $5,000. Huracáns and F8s cost around $5,000 to $7,500 at most companies. Rolls-Royces, Aventadors, and anything with SVJ or SF90 on the badge run $10,000, and some operators go to $15,000 on rare cars.
The deposit is refundable, this is important for you to realize – after the car is inspected. One of the things you want to ask is how long the release takes before you book. Some car rental operators release the funds 48 hours of returning the car. Some take a week or more to release the funds, often it’s because they’re slow, or because they’re making sure the car inspection goes well.
Most importantly, the deposit is not your maximum financial exposure on the car. Read the damage section of the contract as well, because often many car rental companies will overcharge you even for small, and slight, dings. If the operator’s policy carries a deductible, you can be responsible for it, and on exotics deductibles mean five figure costs. Loss-of-use and diminished-value clauses are standard in rental agreements as well. They mean you pay for the days the car sits in a body shop, not just the repair, because of the revenue lost to the operator due to the car being out of use.
Do you need your own insurance to rent an exotic car in New York?
Yes, in most cases. The standard requirement in New York is a full-coverage auto policy in your name that transfers to a rental company, and your insurer has to confirm it covers a car worth $250,000 or more. Many personal policies you have, will cap rental coverage far below that. The credit card “rental coverage” you’re thinking about, like AMEX, usually tops out around $60,000 and often excludes exotic and high-value vehicles outright. Call your carrier ASAP – before you book, not the morning of. Often, we’ve seen potential clients get turned down because their insurance wasn’t up to par.
How many miles are included with an exotic car rental in NYC?
Usually 75 to 150 miles a day, or in total, depending on the car, with 100 to 125 the most common allowance. Go over this limit and you will likely pay per mile – about $1 on a luxury sedan, $3 to $5 on a supercar.
How much does a chauffeured Rolls-Royce or exotic cost in NYC?
Chauffeured Rolls-Royce service in New York can cost you about $295 to $495 an hour in 2026, with a three-hour minimum often. The cost of having a chauffered Ghost sits at the low end, the Cullinan in the middle, the Phantom at the top. When you start thinking about special events, and getting a chauffer for these events, packages covering ceremony to reception, four to six hours, typically land between $1,200 and $2,400 before gratuity. The hourly rates almost never include tolls, gratuity, or tax.
For the supercars, a chauffeur makes less sense. A Huracán has two seats and nobody rents one to sit in the passenger seat. The chauffeur market in New York is Rolls-Royce, Maybach and the big AMG and Escalade SUVs.

That’s the real number for a “$1,500 a day” car: about $4,150 out of your pocket, with another $5,000 or more tied up on your card until the inspection clears. Say you decide to drive to Montauk and back on top of your city miles and add overage – at $4 a mile, 100 extra miles is $400.
