To park at a beach in the Hamptons, you generally need a permit. Most Hamptons beach parking runs from mid-May to mid-September. Permits are tied to the car’s plate. If you are coming from the city and do not already have your own vehicle permits, you will find the daily app parking the easiest option.
In East Hampton Village, monthly and daily passes are digital only, linked to your license plate, and read by plate scanners, rather than cardboard permits. It’s important to know that they are strictly non-transferable and non-refundable, and cannot be given to someone else.
Daily Paid Parking
A day pass in East Hampton Village costs $50, can be purchased only in the ParkMobile app, and is available for the Main Beach parking lot (LOT 2) and the Two Mile Hollow Beach lot. For daily parking, there are sales Monday through Thursday; Friday through Sunday and holidays are up to the beach manager. So there’s a bit of a gamble on a weekend.
Southampton Town has daily parking at eight beaches through the Passport app, for $40 a day. Buy a permit in the app only after you arrive and confirm a space is open. In East Hampton Town (not Village), there is daily paid parking at some beaches on weekdays, but not on weekends or holidays. A day pass costs $50 per vehicle.
Long-term Parking Permits
If you’re planning to be out a while, you might want the long-term parking permits. If you want a monthly pass in East Hampton Village, be ready to buy it the moment it goes on sale online, which is at 9 AM on May 1, and only 500 are available each month. It’s $250 for May 15-June 30, $300 for July, $300 for Aug-Sept 15.
For people who will be out in East Hampton Village for the entire season and have a vehicle they want to bring each time, there is a full-season non-resident parking permit for $750 plus a 6% card fee. Sales opened online on Feb 2, 2026. There are only 3,100 in total. One permit per person per car.
Southampton Town offers non-resident full-season permits for $500 per vehicle online, but it needs a valid vehicle registration. And, these permits are not good at W. Scott Cameron Beach. The village of Southampton has a summer visitor permit for $600 which also requires registration. In Southampton Village, seasonal permits are valid from May 15 to September 15, 2026, and sales are non-refundable. In East Hampton Town, be aware that as of 2025, the beach parking permit for non-residents was $600, and permits were required 24/7 all year.
It’s important to note that these permits are specific to each town and village and may have different restrictions and requirements. A Southampton Town permit is not valid at Coopers Beach, at Southampton Village beaches, nor at the Suffolk County beaches. The same is true of East Hampton Town and Village permits, which are not interchangeable with each other. Since the rules can be confusing, it’s always good to check ahead of time if you are unsure.
Renting a house near a Westhampton Beach Village beach? The owner will give up one beach parking sticker with four ID cards. The owner needs to file the Summer Rental Application with the Village Building Department. Seasonal renter stickers are sold at Rogers Beach May 23-June 28 on weekends, and daily June 29-Sept 7 from 10 am to 5 pm. As of summer 2025, Westhampton Beach Village charged summer renters $650 for a beach parking permit.
Beyond parking, driving onto the sand requires an East Hampton Town drive-on pass, which is good for specific parts of the beach. Note that no vehicles are allowed on the beach between 10 am and 6 pm from the Thursday before Memorial Day to September 15.
Pick Which Beach You Want to Visit First
When picking a beach, there are some things to consider. East Hampton Village has three lifeguard-protected beaches, with bathrooms. The lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 5 PM. Some of the bay beaches have no lifeguards.
Once you have picked a beach, check online whether it is part of Town or Village regulations. If it’s a day trip, you should be able to use the app once you arrive, and weekdays are the easiest day to get parking. For a longer stay, it’s easier to buy a pass with the rental’s plate, but note that some towns require vehicle registration.
