If you’re looking for a midsize luxury sedan, there’s no better choice than the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. This high-end vehicle, fully redesigned for the 2017 model year, is ranked as the best car in its class by U.S. News and World Report. The Mercedes E-Class is prized for its combination of exciting performance, interior opulence, and unprecedented safety.

With so many body style options and trims, the Mercedes E-Class is one of the few cars that succeeds in its quest to be all things to all drivers. You can choose from a four-door sedan, a two-door coupe, and a soft-top cabriolet; two other models, a wagon and a high-performance sports version, will debut later this year. The redesigned sedan comes in three trim levels, with three additional options packages and a variety of a la carte add-ons through which you can truly make the E-Class your own.

Performance and Handling
When you think of a luxury car, you likely picture a smooth, silent ride. The Mercedes E Class delivers just that, outfitted with adaptive suspension that allows drivers to choose from a comfort or sport setting (and three modes in between). Drivers who opt for the sedan will enjoy a 241-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Those who choose the coupe or convertible can opt for either a 329-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, while or a 402-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V8. Both are equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters.

According to Edmunds, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class not only sets a new threshold for design and comfort in luxury vehicles, but is also one of the most technologically advanced cars currently available. It’s adorned with upscale materials, including real wood and convincing synthetic leather, and a sleek new design that calls to mind the brand’s flagship S-Class model. Front seats are power adjustable with memory settings, while the rear seats have a 40/20/40 split for cargo ease. Standard amenities include a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button remote start, and ambient lighting in 64 colors. The infotainment system is equipped with a 12.3″ display screen with voice controls, navigation, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and SD card reader.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class boasts outstanding crash test scores and unprecedented active driver assistance features. The base model is equipped with driver drowsiness monitoring, crosswind assist, and active brake assist. Drivers can also upgrade to models with a 360-degree surround-view camera, evasive steering assist which automatically swerves to avoid pedestrians, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane change assist, and park assist. The E-Class also has a five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration.

Those shopping for a luxury car should strongly consider the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, named UK Car of the Year 2017, Best Luxury Car of 2017 by the New York Daily News, Best New Car and Best Executive Car at the prestigious Fleet World Honours, and Best Auto Tech of the Year from Kelley Blue Book, among numerous other industry accolades.
