I've no idea what these two gentlemen were talking about, mostly because it was in Italian, but the hand gestures were flowing freely from the ticket inspector of the ferry system, in a nice way. - Best Viewed Bigger

Goodbye Canary Wharf

Goodbye Canary Wharf

   2 Faves

In the mid nineties I came with a school trip to Canary Wharf. When I got home I told my parents that one day I would work there. For the past five years I have been, you can see both offices in this photo, and I've enjoyed 99% of the minutes I've been here. I started work 3 days after 7/7 and during the failed second attempt at 'Silver Control' (just under the sunburst highlight) and when I left two years later I worked at the building at the bottom right. One of my favourite photos was taken on the Thames Clipper on the way into the City, and I recreated it on my last journey home on Tuesday. The icing on the cake was the moon shining between the buildings, emphasising the end of an era. On Monday I start a job in the suburbs, for a while I'll miss this centre of the Earth, when will it pass? - Best Viewed Bigger

Sweeping curves

Curves, curves, curves and a few straight lines thrown in for good measure. This is Lambeth Bridge; with its curved arches; with the curvy Parliament View Apartments behind, and lastly the thames ebbing and flowing underneath. - Best Viewed Bigger

A Surpise Terrapin, err Turtle, err ... Tortoise?

   One Fave

Today I decided to cover the route that LondonFlickrMeetups made a few weeks ago to which I couldn't attend. I was expecting a fairly vague affair walking along the Thames. The usual herons, geese, gulls, ducks, cyclists, runners etc. Just as I was getting to Richmond (by the floodgates) I spotted this chap basking in the sun. By the time I left he had quite a crowd. All wondering what kind turtle, tortoise or terrapin it is? Any ideas? - Best Viewed Bigger

Probably not the normal view of the island you'll see. But just think of the amount of people that stared up; longing for someone higher up to help them through? - Best Viewed Bigger
