The unconscious symbolism here has some positive attributes. In the first place it is a happy family with a friendly dog. The space opens up to the upper right, which is healthy.
The figures face toward the looker. That's good.
It is favorable, for boats, and figures, to be comin, or lookin, toward the looker, and facin, either toward the right, especially upward and toward the right, or else directly toward the looker.
Exception would be, if the composition were a Jung mandala, with 4 elements movin clockwise around a middle; or facin clockwise. Thus the top element would face toward the right; the element on the right would face downward; the bottom element would face toward the left; and the left element would face upward. Clockwise.
