Sheeting Rain

Last one in my Boston Harbor series. This is a 7-exposure shot of the harbor (7 exposures created in Photoshop from a single RAW exposure) as the storm began to open up. You can see the sheeting rain dumping down on the left, as well as a section dumping down just off center. Amazing. I have another shot as we pulled further out into the harbor. Actually, there are 2 versions of it, but I linked you to the better one. I have one more shot up here of the storm cell before it opened up. You may want to check out the clipper we were on while you are at it. Camera: Nikon D80 Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/60) Aperture: f/6.3 Focal Length: 10 mm ISO Speed: 100 Lens: Sigma 10-20mm Weather: Frightening - wind - rain - lightening within a mile of the mast View Large On Black - another one really worth it, promise! Storm Rolling into Boston Harbor

Waiting for the Storm to Pass

Storm over Boston Harbor

Storm Rolling into Boston Harbor

This is the same as 2 shots ago, but this time double-baked in Photomtix. This time, kept much more color in this as well. This is a single-exposure HDR - tonemapped in Photomatix and again in Photoshop. This is the skyline of Boston, as seen from Boston Harbor. This is as the storm was really starting to get interesting. (see the cell really start to develop here) We tried several times to leave port to re-enact the Boston Tea Party but never got out much further than this. The rain and lightening was relentless, which isn't great on a clipper with 2 100' masts in the middle of the ocean. So, we hugged the shore for about 40 minutes, re-enacted the tossing of the tea into the harbor, then returned. Camera: Nikon D80 Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125) Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 10 mm ISO Speed: 100 Lens: Sigma 10-20mm View Large On Black - really worth it, I swear! Having you comment is my award. Waiting for the Storm to Pass

Here is a silhouette of one of the crew from the Liberty Clipper, out of Boston Harbor. We tried several times to leave port to re-enact the Boston Tea Party but never got out much further than this. The rain and lightening was relentless, which isn't great on a clipper with 2 100' masts in the middle of the ocean. So, we hugged the shore for about 40 minutes, re-enacted the tossing of the tea into the harbor, then returned. Storm over Boston Harbor

Here is a look at the storm cell that was rolling in as we were trying to leave dock for the first time. As you can see, it was a nasty / festering cell that wanted to ruin our afternoon. We tried several times to leave port to re-enact the Boston Tea Party but never got out much further than this. The rain and lightening was relentless, which isn't great on a clipper with 2 100' masts in the middle of the ocean. Hanging out at the Wharf

Hanging out at the Wharf

Here is a simple B&W of the Wharf area of Boston Harbor. A random shot while waiting for our clipper (Liberty Clipper) to board for our 2 hour tour... our two hour tour... Anyhow, lots going on here. There was a horse and carriage that pulled up for a break (to feed) - a random guy walking towards the Aquarium and some vendor selling great hooded sweatshirts for $10!! Dern if I didn't forget to pick one up. Camera: Nikon D80 Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200) Aperture: f/7.1 Focal Length: 10 mm ISO Speed: 100 Lens: Sigma 10-20mm Having you comment is my award. Unprocessed Burnt Home

This house - burnt to a crisp first through fire, then through Photoshop and Photomatix - is my official first entry into the realm of Urbex (Urban exploration is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of urban areas or industrial facilities. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as "creeping" or infiltration, although some people consider infiltration to be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites. In the USA, it may also be referred to as "draining" (when exploring drains) "urban spelunking", and "urban caving", "vadding", "trolling", "building hacking", "reality hacking" or "roof and tunnel hacking".) My location is purposely left out. All three exposures were locked with these settings: Camera: Nikon D80 Exposure: 1/80 second Aperture: f/4.5 Focal Length: 10 mm ISO Speed: 100 Exposure Bias: 0 EV, -1 EV, +1 EV Lens: Sigma 10-20mm You MUST View Large and On Black © 2008 Raymond Larose - All rights reserved.
