Photochallenge.org's 2009 daily challenge #78, Insect. Jeremy and Trevor you are killing me. Give me another month or two and we would be crawling with insects, but right now it's s till too cold. My daughter and I found this guy in our yard last summer and he's been living on our fireplace mantle ever since.
It believe this is just the exoskeleton of a dragonfly. I took it down to my lightbox and grabbed a few sticks from the back yard to create this image. The special effects are courtesy of Tiffen Dfx's X-Ray Filter. (a favorite of my daughter's)
