i've wanted to shoot rural Taiwanese cemeteries for a long time. they're different from "normal" cemeteries that are housed in well-defined lots (like the cemetery you shot, it has a name, "Mountain View", and probably a gate where you can enter it and stuff).
in rural Taiwan, you get to see many graves dotted on the hillsides and empty planting fields, and the funny thing is, those graves aren't located in a "cemetery". just a grassy patch of land.
so when the government needs to raze that land to build new roads, those graves will have to be dug up, since that lot wasn't meant to be a cemetery in the first place.
the tombstones are usually U- shaped, and are tiled (like bathroom tiles), you see the person's name and place of origin on the closed end of the U, and you get to lay flowers on the open end of the U.
i've wanted to take pictures of these for so long, but i never dared to because my classmate would always tell me about people who ended up being followed by ghosts after shooting and then leaving. it's really nuts because, well, i'm pretty old and i should know better than to be silly, but still, i end up not doing so.
