Damson trees are naturally very brittle, after a period of drought they become extremely so and shed large branches at an alarming rate. There are signs all over the orchard warning visitors of this fact and, despite evidence to the contrary, some insist that this is "Health & Safety gone mad". Sometimes you have to wonder how these people made it to adulthood.
