you better not mess with laura

Last time I was lucky enough to photograph the lovely Laura under studio lights this time last year she was bleached blond & had a really unique attitude & presence. The good news is that red suits her too! The bad news is she was standing about 30cm too far back from her mark when I was using the cable release/studio lights & the all came out too dark. So I had to make do with poaching a few shots with my trusty but nasty Speedlite, the results you see here. Oh well, next time I'll remember to ask her to take a step forward. I asked her if she ever dyed her her blue before. she said no but thought it was a good idea. Watch this space, same time next year!

I asked her what was significant about that date, she replied that it was the day someone very dear to her died, so I asked her to look at it & think about the person. I felt it was an intrusion to probe any further... (This was the only shot that sort of came out OK using the cable release & studio lights.)

No processing. A rarity here this year in early September - a Shepard's Delight of a Sunset instead of the almost omnipresent rainclouds...

Earth & Heaven (Remembering 9/11)

We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. Excerpt from Ulysses by Alfred Lord Tennyson Dedicated to all who lost their lives so cruelly on this day seven years ago in America, & to all innocent victims of what has come to pass as a result of it since...

Clash of the Titans

Red Sky after Sunset

June Moon

Clash of the Titans

Found on the balcony outside my bedroom window one evening recently. The spider was dead already. You can see the trail (of spider blood?) he left as he staggered away after their deathly embrace. The spider must have bitten the bee before the bee then stung it. The bee seemed partially paralysed, he just sat there moving his legs uselessly. You can see remnants of the spider's web he bumbled into still on his tail end. The Bumble Bee was gone the next morning... Shot with 50mm macro on auto so the flash would fire!
