That's a complicated question, Ian. Indeed the spectacle to the naked eye is quite as you describe it, but it was awfully dark. I used the built in flash, which I usually try to avoid. A lot of the resulting image comes from manipulation of the image in Photoshop; Shadows to open up the dark corners, Highlights to bring the materials back,burn tool on the highlights and a slight adjustment in Curves. The original is really quite ordinary. What's amazing is that this winery opened in April 2008. I expected to see a Monk come walking through the archway.
