Patung ini berasal dari sebuah kolam kuno di Kotabatu, Ciapus, Bogor yang dipindahkan oleh Dr. Frideriech ke Kebun Raya Bogor pada pertengahan abad ke-19. Prasasti yang berada di dekatnya, konon merupakan pahatan Frideriech, yang berarti "Tidak jauh dari sini ada kolam."
Versi lain menyebutkan bahwa C.G.C. Reinwardt (pendiri Kebun Raya Bogor tahun 1817) yang memindahkan patung ini dan membuat prasasti dalam tulisan Sunda Kuno. http://www.sapteka.net
