Stanley
Stanley was standing outside 7-Eleven asking people for money. I told him about my project, and he responded by asking for $5 instead of $2. I told him that I could only pay $2 for the project, and he agreed. I set up and fired my first shot. I looked at the display, and the light from the store behind gave an ugly glare. I went to take another shot, but he refused, saying that I only asked for one picture. I relented and handed over the $2, and then Stanley allowed me to shoot a couple more. He said that he's been homeless for about a year, 6 months being in the area. He has some family in a town south of Richmond, who he hopes to soon reunite with.

James
I met James outside of Union Station at about 10:45 on Saturday morning. He approached me asking for change, I told him about the project, and he happily agreed. He said that he's been homeless for 5 years, the whole time in DC. He has some family in North Carolina, who want him to come home. He says that as soon as they send him money for a ticket home, he will go. James told me that he was going to use the $2 to buy two double-cheeseburgers at McDonald's.
