Ah a thistle often considered a weed but which is the official flower of Scotland with the Latin motto "Nemo me impune lacessit" ("Wha daur meddle wi' me? " in Scots). This translates as "No one provokes me with Impunity" . Legend has it that the thistle was adopted after Scottish defenders were alerted to a night attack by Danes after one of the attackers stepped on a thistle and let =out a shout of pain.
