50mm first! I never break a promise
Just wanted to document this moment. This was the first picture I took with my new lens. No editing besides cropping of the sides! Stellar, huh? Kidding! I promised a couple of you I'd upload - here ya go!

Did that look in focus through the viewfinder? Do you wear glasses? Where do you have the diopter directly to the right of the viewfinder set to? (it's a little slider).

feels like I'm being reprimended here. It's set one click up. where should it be? And yes, I'm supposed to wear glasses. Maybe I should when using this lens? Dang. I hate glasses.

Good eyesight is good for manual focusing. Are you far sighted or near sighted?

I have a special thing that goes infront of my viewfinder that acts like my glasses, so I don't need to use my glasses. But I use my glasses anyway- with the diopter on camera set all the way down, so I get a super clear view.. haha.

Oh and I saw in the EXIF you used flash. The reason to get this lens is so you don't have to use flash ;). Set the aperture to f/1.8, and whatever shutter speed is suggested (maybe raise the ISO if needed) and you're good to go. As long as the shutter speed is about 1/80 for inanimate objects (you may or may not be able to go below that- I usually go to 1/50 or so for inanimate objects) or 1/160-->1/250 for moving objects.

O ya. Now that I think about it, I figured that out after the first couple of shots. I just wanted you all to see why I didn't want to post my first attempts with a new lens. I have a learning curve - somewhat special ;)

David is always a little critical, don't lit him GETCHYADOWN, but he does have quite a bit of knowledge for his age :) Thanks for posting and enjoy the 1.8. The rest of the shots are awesome.

No worries, jays0n. Not down at all. I knew this was on my list of crappyiest shots ever! Just wanted to see what he had to say! I seriously just pulled it out of the box, put it on the camera and shot! LOL! He makes me laugh - yes, you, David. I love how knowledgeable you are!
