The Mormon Battalion Monument on the Utah State Capitol grounds commemorates the service of 500 Latter-day Saints who marched from Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to San Diego during the war with Mexico and helped put down the Bear Flag revolt.

The Utah State Capitol recently underwent a renovation, including a seismic upgrade and an overhaul of the interior to restore it to its original splendor. This is one of the capitals on the pillars in the House of Representatives.

Pulaski Massacre monument in Mystic Island, N.J., circa 1982. The monument memorializes the men under Count Casmir Pulaski's command who were massacred on that spot by British troops during the American Revolution, Oct. 15, 1778.
