Three HOUR exposure? Crazy! I've only gotten up to about thirty seconds for my needs..

Thanks. Thirty seconds wouldn't have given me the length of the trails I wanted. I also did it with a Chinon SLR, a totally manual camera, so there was no problem leaving the shutter open for so long. I just had to set an alarm clock to wake me up when it was time to close the shutter.

Wow. Looks like it paid off well. Those trails are intense! I just converted to digital a couple months ago. The cameras I had used before weren't strictly manual, but I enjoyed the freedom of setting my own limits if/when necessary.

I still carry a film camera as a backup for my Pentax K110D. It helps if I fill up my memory cards and can't offload them to a computer right away, or in case the batteries in the digital die and I'm in a place where I can't get replacements right away.
