Ulrich, it is my content. flickr only provides storage and infrastructure. Who is flickr to tell me what I may do with my content? And not only do they tell me, they try to tell our entire country! As soon as I realized that they already made up their mind it was crystal clear to me that I withdraw my content. Same goes for any participation on their service such as commenting, groups, etc. This is my content too (unfortunately the group contributions are not deleted with my account though...).

Think of a phone company. I pay them for one year of usage, plug in the phone and start doing phone calls. Then I call, let's say Hamburg and the call does not get through. I ask them and they say "well, yesterday we decided you may not call Hamburg anymore because in Hamburg some terrorists are suspected and who tells us you are not about to call them." Wouldn't you terminate the phone contract right away and look for one that lets you call anywhere?

Hello Lou, so glad you are here, welcome! I regret to have left that fast and without notice (well, there was notice, but only for hardly a day) but I simply had to, reasons in the pdf document mentioned in the photo description above.
