The memorial commemorates U.S. servicemen who died in coastal waters of the western Atlantic Ocean during World War II. A total of 4,609 names are inscribed on both sides of eight 19-foot-tall granite pylons. The pylons are arranged in two rows of four each. Between the two rows stands a bronze statue of an eagle, erected on a black granite pedestal. The eagle faces the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor. - Wikipedia

One of the biggest surprises, apart from how big central park is, is that in the middle of it there is a castle. Not a huge castle but a surprise none the less. Bathed in the warm golden light of the evening its arches face the golden trees, pretty as .... well a picture. - Best Viewed Bigger

Inside the Guggenheim you're allowed to take photographs on the ground floor but not above.
It was so cold outside that when entering the lens immediately steamed up which made the spotlights sparkle and gave this a lovely dreamy effect I didn't want to correct - Best Viewed Bigger

OK well maybe not the South Pacific... This is at the Lincoln center as the weather started to turn from snow to blizzard - which complimented the Nutcracker ballet we saw very nicely! - Best Viewed Bigger

I'm amazed how vertical New York is; and just how different every block is from each other. My favourite building is lit up on the left above Bryant Park - I believe it's the Bank of America building? - Best Viewed Bigger
