We cannot fling ourselves into the blank future; we can only call up images from the past. This being so, the important principle follows, that how many images we have largely depends on how much past we have. [G.K.Chesterton]

When I was a kid, I liked to play with a wooden construction set manufactured in these buildings. In the seventies, I once even 'officially' visited the factory (unfortunately without a camera).
The siblings of the founder sold it in 1978 and in 1987 the company had to succumb to more modern toys. Since then the building remained empty. When I came back 20 years later, dog-roses, thistles and and trash had taken over. Instead of workers I could only hear the wind crashing the metal doors and window frames.
HDR enhanced, Halo effects reduced in postprocessing.

Actually the sun, having a hard time to break through on a foggy day in a small village in Central Switzerland. This was my first try with HDR and fog. HDR allows some more degrees of freedom which is a big advantage - photos taken in fog can easily become flat and boring.

Secret Under a Blue Sky |
An inscription on the wall (not visible here) shows it was built in 1895. Now only used as a storage space. I don't know what was produced here originally, but it is located directly at a small river - possibly to use its water. - HDR processed, then histogram curves adjusted in software.
