Light at f/1.8 |
by NontrivialMatt |
Today I bought a Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens - my first lens purchase for my D50 (I had been using the kit 18-55 f/4-5.6). Wow, do I love that 1.8 aperture! It gives such a shallow DOF, and has a really nice out-of-focus representation (bokeh) - at least I really like it.
I'm very excited and can't wait to explore more of what I can do with this lens. And for $100, it's quite a bargain. Yes, the 50mm focal length is somewhat in-between a nice wide 12-20mm range, and it's not long enough to capture a lot of action far away at the 75-200mm range. But, it's what I can afford right now and it gives me a lot more options than I had. I think it's an incredible value.
