Each room at the Lakeside Inn has a name. Mine is called "Hao Sha (浩沙)." Hao Sha, with a TV, AC and free Internet service and without a bathroom (public bathroom is available), costs only 69 RMB per night! Even cheaper rooms are 59 RMB. The hostel is just a couple of walks from Daming Lake, which makes it a nice option for budget travelers.

Headed directly to the Happy Tom as soon as I arrived in Jinan. The restaurant is said to be a Shandong version of KFC, serving a mix-up of Chinese and American fast-food. It's located just outside the Jinan Railway Station.

A CRH train at the Beijing Railway Station. Taken on my D35 Beijing-Jinan CRH train. D35 leaves Beijing at 8:10 am, and arrives in Jinan at 11:34 am.

Read a free magazine on the train, explaining the difference between CRH Dongchezu (动车组) and locomotive-powered trains. It uses the same technology of metro trains to have separate power cars. Quite amazing.
