Knowing how to use the options that stop OpenOffice spellchecking as you type is useful but not half as good as being able to use the thesaurus! http://freeasinair.blogspot.com/

We are coming to the end of a series in my amateur radio and short wave listening blog, Listening, which has been about propagation. This post rounds up the propagation information about the whole spectrum and so is well worth a read. A link to the blog is http://taperell.blogspot.com

The second post in the 'Shrubs In Containers' series shows you how to choose plants and what plants to use. These two posts show you how to use plants to soften and help hide an annoying wall, fence or hedge by breaking up and softening the line. http://theidealgarden.blogspot.com/

My open source software blog, Free As In Air, is looking at the feed aggregator, RSSOwl, and in particular at ways to search feeds to look for specific content. This week we at the powerful and useful save function enabling searches to be saved and treated like feeds. http://freeasinair.blogspot.com/

Creating a blog to record the stations that you hear and the conditions on the tropical bands is a good idea. My radio blog, Listening, tells you how to create a blog and what information to put in it. http://taperell.blogspot.com

One use for shrubs in containers would be to soften the line of a fence or wall. Think how much better and how useful it would be if the plants in the illustration were in containers! My gardening blog looks at using plants in containers for this purpose. Today's post is the first of two. - http://theidealgarden.blogspot.com/

In my open source software blog, Free As In Air, we have gone to a lot of trouble to create layers. Now, however, we are about to make them invisible! Why would we do this and what are the advantages? http://freeasinair.blogspot.com/

An important parts of any word processor, my open source software blog has a post today covering dictionaries. I explain how to add a custom dictionary as well as how to add, edit and delete words and I give a link to a ready-made medical dictionary designed for OpenOffice users. Understanding dictionaries and user dictionaries is very useful and a read of this short blog post is recommended. http://freeasinair.blogspot.com/

Today is the second post in creating a water garden inside a container. This time I am looking at the plants to use. It's a fun project because I suggest producing what is, in effect, a miniature water garden and this raises all sorts of possibilities. The blog, The Ideal Garden, is at http://theidealgarden.blogspot.com/

My blog, 'Free As In Air', is looking at RSSOwl and how to use it to search through news and find both news to read and news items that have already been read. It's an interesting post and the link is http://freeasinair.blogspot.com/

Keep a log book if you want to recall what you heard and compare conditions or apply for an award. In my amateur radio and short wave listening blog, it;s called 'Listening', we're coming to the end of a series on Tropical Band DXing and looking today at the subject of logs. It's an interesting post and one that will be carried over to next week so it is well worth a read. http://taperell.blogspot.com

My gardening blog, 'The Ideal Garden', is covering pond gardens today and on Thursday. Obviously, this can only be a brief look because water gardens are a big subject and really need a book to do them justice! However, this is a good introductory article and well worth a read today and then a bookmark for Thursday. http://theidealgarden.blogspot.com/

In 'Free As In Air' today I'm beginning a look at that very fundamental technique of using layers in the Gimp. This is very much a beginning day with an explanation of what layers are and a look at how to create them. If this sounds interesting then go over to my blog, read the post, and then bookmark the page - http://freeasinair.blogspot.com/

My amateur radio and short wave listening blog, called 'Listening', continues the informal look around the non-directional beacons in the UK with a look at the aid at Warton.
Warton is in the county of Lancashire in the UK and home to a large aerospace facility. In the blog I give a little of the history of Warton and set out the location and details for the beacon.
