Photos from between 3rd December 2006 and 9th February 2007 when I was working in the 4th cataract area of the Nile. The first photo in the set is here http://www.zooomr.com/photos/mattnic/732929/
The work was being undertaken by the Sudan Archaeological Research Society (http://www.sudarchrs.org.uk/) in advance of the construction of a new dam across the Nile at Mirowe Island. Confusingly due to a spelling error it is the Merowe Dam (Merowe is a town opposite Karima a few miles downstream of the dam, also not to be confused with Meroe an ancient city on the east bank of the Nile).
