Click here for large size. Well I've not posted any photos here for ages as I have been busy at work on my dissertation, for which I am studying post medieval antimony smelting in Cornwall. This is a scan of a cross section of one of the slag blocks. From this I cut small bits (no larger than a couple of cm), mount in a resin block and then analyse in a scanning electron microscope to determine the composition and therefore better understand the technical choices made by the smelters in the past.

A gorgeous evening sky in North Nottinghamshire, I upped the blacks and contrast to try and emphasise the cloud formation and create a gloomy and dense atmosphere. Listening to the new Portishead album may whilst editing may have influenced my decisions here! Click here for large size.

Another photo of the interior of the Blue Mosque. Tripods aren't allowed, so as with my other interior ceiling shot I took this by roughly framing the shot then placing the camera on its back on a 3 second timer. I'm pleased with the way the three pillars in the corners anchor the shot. Click here for large size.

A 7th century AD Merovingian belt buckle with wire silver inlay in the British Museum. I heavily Photoshoped the image (as I was using this in an essay) to get rid of the annoying beige fabric background.
