The Ferry Crossing between Ed Dom and Dirbi Island. Although perhaps ferry is a little too grand a term.
The day after we visited El Kurru we travelled up to our dig house at Ed Dom. That first evening I wandered down to the river. On the opposite bank a small girl yelled out (in English) 'Hello! Mattchew! What is your name?!'
Obviously determined to use all her English in one go, which is somewhat depressingly significantly better than my Arabic.
