Click here for large size. I noticed this faded sign painted high upon the front wall of a 1930's semi detached house for the first time a few years ago. The rate of decay seemed to have sped up since I'd seen it last, so I thought I should record this brief snapshot of elation from half a century ago before it eroded for ever. I had to convert to B+W and play about with colours to make the writing legible.

I believe its celebrating the end of WW2, although I can't be sure. It could also potentially be the end of the Falklands war, but I think it looks older than that. Any other ideas gratefully received!

Thanks! Yeh I'd agree, so often I've wandered past something thinking 'oh I should take a picture of that' only to find when I get around to it that its vanished forever.
