I had no idea that this mural had any cultural significance when I photographed it. Apparently, this is *the* oldest remaining mural in Washington, DC, dating back to the 60's/70's. It's very commonly photographed, and has been cited in a number of cultural peices, including this article at Cultural Tourism DC.
