Moving is such a hassle in Japan. Apartments don't come with appliances, so that means you've got to provide your own fridge, washing machine, sometimes even ceiling lights. Lately though at least most places will come with their own heating and air conditioning. My current place did, but my last one didn't so I had to spend about a grand to get a unit that was impossible to sell when I moved out.
