They say a nice, clean desktop helps you work more effectively. I don't care.

Perhaps it is just me, but one the word that popped in my mind when I finished this book (actually, a few pages before that) was: anticlimactic.
I began to enjoy the reading a little after half the story, but and I felt like the story had a good pace. But something happened there, and the story just dwindled and flickered, until the very end of the book.
There are no shocking moments or twists. There is nothing interesting in the story per-se. What is interesting is the writing style: The way the author paints a contemporary (by that time) tale from the beginnings of the 1900's. You can clearly understand the way people used to think back then, how the racism and society classes were just commonplace.
This was another attempt at me reading "classic" books, although not as good as the last one. Perhaps I need to intermingle this kind of read with other fast-paced books.
