So with this photo I was testing this ColorSync profile issue I read about last night, and it seems true. So the profile that iPhoto adds is readable by Safari (and this photo is blue-ish since I added some blue tint) but in Firefox which cannot read it, it is grey ish. Ugh. There is a fix hack etc but have not implemented. More to follow. BTW, I shot this through a small hole in a sign on the train stop. That is what made that shape.

Oh I should have explained. There is a sign there on the train stop and it has a hole in it, very small hole, maybe half inch, and in this crazy shape. I put the camera to the hole and took this as the train was comin.

thanks Joe.

Really, I was actually planning to delete it after testing in both browsers because it is grainy since it was so dark out. But now it stays I guess :)

you see the explanation to Joe's comment about how I did it?

Thanks

Yeah, good take.
The grain works with the monochrome color. Gives it an old look.

Wouldn't it be best to just export the photo in sRGB?

Yaw, but iPhoto seems to have a problem with it. Even if you set it to use that profile, it always exports as Adobe's RGB or something like that, which only Safari seems to understand. But there is some tips about to make a conversion applescript.

Ohhhh... OK I get it now, I missed the part about you exporting from from iPhoto. I only use iPhoto as an album, stuff goes in and never comes out. I didn't realize it forces Colorsync on you.

your explanation of what happened sounded in my head like a series of pops and whistles (in other words, it went waaaaaaaay over my head).

all i see here is a fantastic photo! love it!

Thanks for that and no worries. It is a bit new for me too, just that when iPhoto exports an image from RAW to JPEG it uses a profile for color and not the standard one. Mac apps see and understand the one used but not other browsers. Not a huge deal.

Glad you like the photo.
