I have seen a snakefly precisely three times in my entire life, and this time I had my camera with me. The snakefly, with its elongated thorax, looks like a flying giraffe, and flies just about as well.

Spencer didn't want to hold still for this one. Usually when I crouch down to take a shot he'll come walking up to me expecting a tummy rub, which is exactly what I don't want. I need to find his weakness.

I took two photos of these tomatoes, each photo slightly shifted compared to the other, to mimic binocular vision. If you relax your eyes so that you "see past" this photo (i.e. use your eyes to bring the two photos together), you can see the tomatoes in 3D. This is fancily known as stereoscopy. Can you do it?

Pea in the Tree |
This is straight off the camera. At ISO 1600 I can take shots handheld and I can see through the viewfinder if it's bright enough. This one had a shutter speed of a 1/2 second.
I think the reason the photos generally suck is because my digital sensor is pretty small. If I used a larger film format they might turn out better.

Every night, Pea flies up to the eucalyptus tree to go to sleep. Here she is shortly after her flight. She shared the tree with a great horned owl, but the owl flew away before I could get a shot.
