He's not a water-loving cat, but he does like to drink from everywhere except his water bowl. For example, he'll drink out of the toilet if you leave the lid open.

yeah, cat's are funny when it comes to water! I had once one that always drank from the water of the Christmas tree (we had a big basin of water to keep the tree during ~2month ;) ) that became very stinky with the time ;)

my cat paws his water out of the bowl as well - some cats just prefer moving water to stagnant water.

They usually don't like water just out of the tap because of the chlorine smell. As the toilet bowl's water has had time to 'breathe', the chlorine evaporates.
