i like the variations in the appearance of the water! And the big branch was a cool find!

Cool and lucky had been scouting for shots for about an hour. This involved getting a bit closer to the water then I would have liked and covering the camera with a shower cap but feel it was worth it.

WELL worth it! A shower cap? Do you carry those around with you? Or just when shooting near water?

I have been carrying a shower cap around in my camera bag for probably about a year and never used it before. (Read a tip somewhere I think). Discovered it was very effective and helped when I needed to change lens. Would recommend to all that you carry a shower cap ;-) Also helps to keep hair dry under cycle helmet in downpour!!

thanks porlei am very flattered by your comments. I only recently learnt how to take images like this. To take an image like this you need to keep the shutter open for a while. This means that any movement will cause a blur to the image. Some movement you want to blur like the water some you don't such as camera shake. To avoid the negative I used a tripod and a cable release which reduced any camera shake. The shutter was open for a 6th of a second.

p.s. take the plunge and post some of your own pictures up. People are generally very supportive on Zooomr. Let me know how you get on
