From the Biological Recording In Scotland Group email re this picture
"Early bumblebee (Bombus pratorum), "early" because it flies early in the morning as well as early in the year. It is a rather small bumblebee and frequently comes into gardens. BRISC has for a number of years been campaigning for bumblebees to enjoy a higher profile, and if you check out our website at www.brisc.org.uk and click on 'Projects' and 'Bumblebees', then in the text you will find a link to a series of illustrations and photographs of the different kinds of bumblebee we have in Scotland.
