Dragonfly?

Dragonfly?
Is this still a dragonfly? I found him while we were kayaking in NH. There were bunches of them just chasing each other. I was thrilled when one took a rest so I could snap him!

Holy cow!!! Very very cool! This looks like a cross between a butterfly and a dragonfly - very strange but oh so cool! : )

In fact it’s a damselfly, the difference to dragonflies being folding it’s wings as shown instead of keeping them sideways in flight position. Alas, I couldn’t yet take one of these so closely. (calopteryx virgo, the “Beautiful Demoiselle”, a european species – what the heck does one in NH?)

No problemo! Here are my damselflies so far:
Ma Demoiselle — calopteryx splendensHufeisen-Azurjungfer — coenagrion puella
“Banded Demoiselle” and “Azure Damselfly”.
They are not easy to shoot and focus and just when you think you’ve got everything proper done they fly away.

Just to limit the expectations into my entomological expertise: It’s all from Google ;-)
