Some of my fondest childhood memories are from when we lived in Bremerton and riding with grandma to Seattle on the ferry to the water front piers. Ivar's, the Aquarium, etc. by the time i was 12 and 13 i was riding the ferry over by myself and hanging out at Pike Place. We moved to NY when i was 13.

i grew up here, and i adore the ferries. we used to take the day & go over to bainbridge to picnic, or just cross the sound on a beautiful day.
