Lo que un día fue la lagoa de Antela, desecada en los años cincuenta del siglo pasado para aprovechar sus tierras para labranza (me voy a reservar mi opinión sobre el particular) estaba rodeada de varias torres como ésta que intentaban vigilar tanto movimientos de tropas de los señores feudales de la zona, como hipotéticos ejércitos invasores provenientes de Montalegre, en Portugal, cuyo castillo no está demasiado lejano.
