El largo peregrinar desde el Mar de los Sargazos llega a su fin para un gran número de lampreas en las aguas del Miño y de algunos de sus tributarios, como el Tea.
Durante la noche los vecinos de los lugares se apostan en sus estacadas y encienden focos que atraen a estos agnatos para pescarlas vivas.
Debido a la construcción de presas, muchas lampreas quedaron atrapadas en los cursos altos de los ríos y se están adaptando a una vida únicamente fluvial
