The MIT Stata Center |
by Ben Watt |
On my last day in Boston, I crossed the river to have a quick wander round the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus, before leaving for Maine.
MIT's Stata Center certainly stood out amongst all the other buildings, it's quirky, in all its various strange shapes and sizes.
It did however remind me an awful lot of our very own Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. However Frank Gehry, who was the architect behind the Stata Center, had nothing to do with the Scottish Parliament as far as I know!
Both buildings though seem to have had their fair share of problems in day to day use. There's a reason why most buildings don't look like this.

This was the first building I encountered once I worked out what direction to walk in from the subway, and it was like somebody had dropped a little bit of home into Boston!
Didn't get to go inside though, so I don't know if it's as nice inside as the Scottish Parliament is.
