I love the Shadows adjustment because it reveals things hidden in uneven exposures like this without washing out the already lit subject(s). If you run PS, then go to the Image menu, scroll to Adjustments and scroll that side menu to "Shadow/Highlights about 3/4s the way down. Shadows will automatically go to 50%, which is oftentimes too much, so use the slider to get it where you want it. Highlights takes some of the glare off and I find it 's really cool to bring out texture when needed.
