Benjamin Harrison is buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana, the location with the largest accumulation of dead presidents and vice-presidents. Indianapolis was his home, and this is certainly the most prominent cemetery there. Besides Harrison, three vice-presidents are buried in the same cemetery. Harrison is buried between his two wives, Caroline and Mary. After Caroline’s death following a nearly 40-year marriage, the former president, now age 62, was married to 37-year-old Mary Lord, to the chagrin of the president’s grown children, who refused to attend the ceremony (Mary was born the same year as the president’s daughter). Still, their 5-year marriage produced a daughter who brought great joy to her father in his final years. Mary lived for almost 50 years after the president’s death, dying during the presidency of Harry Truman in 1948.
