Have you ever seen Seventh Seal or Persona? I love both of those films, as much for the images as the wonderful stories. And I have always retained the images of the opening of Wild Strawberries with the haunting clock with no hands in the deserted town with the horse and cart rumbling through, all short in glorious stark blackandwhite. Almost any moment of that sequence as a still would be a hundred times any photo I have taken. I think the photography was directed by Fischer.
