Just a quick b/w version done in Lightroom. No dodging or burning or anything yet. I'll wait to spend that kind of time til I get the 4x5 scanned.
And now that I've seen the two side by side, I almost like the color one better.

I'm pretty stoked about this one on the 4x5. The lens I have is a 90mm, and it's actually quite a bit wider than the lens on my brothers digital camera that I borrowed to make this.

Centennial Falls, Twin Falls, Idaho, 2002 |
Here's just a quick digital capture from one of the canals I photographed today. It'll be a little while before I get the "real" version from the 4x5 (still need to get a bigger batch of negatives before I do any developing) Looks a little pinker than I want it, and the snow is a little flat. All these adjustments were done real quick in Lightroom, so there's no dodging/burning. I'm still tryin to nail down the tones for splittoning in Lightroom, and have it turn out like the way I've done it in the darkroom.

I think I posted this one before as well, but this is the "snappier," contrastier one.

Aquaduct, Diversion Dam, Grace, Idaho, 2005 |
I already had this photograph posted, but I've been going through all of my old photographs and reworking them, because I noticed a lot were pretty flat and muddy, so here is the new version.

In Grace, Idaho, there were a whole network of wooden aquaducts, used for irrigation. Just last year they were all removed to help restore Salmon migration.
Edit: I just saw my typo. Dunno how I got that in there, but it's fixed now.

Teton River, Madison County, Idaho, 2005 |
Another image of Texas Slough, about 1/2 mile upstream of the previous image. Also made with 4x5 Polaroid Type 55 film. The light leaks occured from a faulty mechanism that isn't allowing the dark slide to be removed properly, which, in this case requires that the negatives be processed in the field. With a properly functioning Polaroid back, the dark slide is able to be replaced, allowing the photographer to process the negatives back in a more controlled environment, i.e., his lab/studio, which is the way I would prefer to do it, but $40 on ebay for the film holder is better than the $100+ for a brand new one.

It took a while to get rid of all the dust, but I'm finally done with it. I made this photograph my Junior year in college, and the Texas Slough west of Rexburg, Idaho remains one of my favorite places in the world to photograph, especially in the winter.
