A giant light sculpture created at the renowned Zurich Engineering School now hangs from the ceiling in the main hall of the Zurich railway station. It is to inspire travelers and passer-byes alike, offering them a moment of quiet contemplation.
The three-dimensional display called Nova consists of a regular arrangement of 25'000 light bulbs, tuned to shine in16 million different shades of colors. Nova also shapes images, the perception of which depends on the viewpoint of the spectator. Thanks to the two-dimensional operating modus. Indeed, the images may only be perceived as concrete shapes from a particular standpoint.
