Could you imagine that these two haven't met for more than ten years? My father (R) did a search on YouTube for clips of Drum and Bugle Corps. He contacted someone who knows someone who happens to know him. E-mail correspondences led him to the brother of my godfather (L) and they were able to contact each other through SMS. Eventually my godfather came to my parents' place yesterday.

Contests are usually held during town fiestas. In the absence of a ring, the streets would do just fine as most of them are closed to vehicular traffic on such occasions.
