© & (M) LGD 2010. The Occidental Bar, formerly Occidental Hotel on the historic Vulcan Lane. The single-storey bit was the hotel's billiard room. The multi-storey part (left of picture) leans due to dodgy foundations. The street was named after a forge on the site of this bar. It has a colourful history (once nicknamed Vultures Lane for the undesirable elements that frequented the area) but now to me seems somewhat pretentious. It used to be narrower pre-1880.
