"I am"..Husband, Father, Podcaster, Web Developer, amateur photographer, and sometimes cartoonist.

I have had my Nikon D70 for about 2 years now, and I love it more and more each day. I have a Tamron 70-300mm (with macro), a Nikkor 50mm lens, and of course the stock 18 - 70mm Nikkor. I carry it all around in my Lowepro backpack and have it with me most of the time. For processing I use Lightroom, Photoshop/Gimp on my Mac ;-)

I like trying to do my own photowalking at least once a week, or when I have time. I like to shoot a variety of things and try not to stick to one type of photography. I enjoy shooting macro as well as anything else.

As far as my podcasts, I co-host Technorma with Chuck Tomasi, and it is a Tech, Science, and all things geek podcast. I also host Valid Syntax and it is a 10 min podcast about all things Open Source for any OS.

Hey! :o)

I shoot with a D80 since September last year (it was the birthday present from me to myself). I have a Tamron 17-50 1:2,8 and the lensbaby III so far. Lately i'm not that creative and do not shoot very much, but i use to do photowalks at least once a week. I also take photos of almost everything but i think i have a soft spot for minimalism. At the moment i have a little exhibition going on. If you're interested see the online-issue here (www.stockwerk23.de)...

Nice to be in a Nikon group now. Looking forward to the photo-pool! :)

Thanks for inviting me, Kreg!

D50, N80, F100...but mostly the D50, which would be a D80 if I was richer. ;-)

I use the same lenses on all my bodies, Nikkor 50mm 1.8, Sigma EX 17-35mm 2.8, Tamron 70-300mm macro, and a few bang around 28-80mm lenses that I don't care about. ;)

Lenses
Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 DX
Nikkor AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6

For me, D50 with the D70 kit lens. Don't ask, it's a long story.

Just bought the 50mm 1.8, which seems quite popular around here... :)

I love my 50mm...It is awkward at first not having any zoom on it, but it is quick!

Ok...and I almost have to ask about your lens, probably because you said not to.

I shoot with a D40. Recently I've been shooting primarily with my Sigma 30mm f1.4. It's fast, sharp and beautiful.

I also have the kit, 18-55, and I got the 55-200 too.

I use a Nikon D50, ive been shooting since December 2006. Since im a poor college student i only used the stock 28-80mm lens for a while but just recently got the new Nikkor 55-200 VR zoom lens. I love the D50 its a camera that teaches me something new every time i pick it up. maybe one day i can afford a D200 or better yet i here Nikon has a DSLR with a 35mm equivalent.

I use a D70s as my primary camera, but I also have a N90 and a Nikkormat FT3. I have to admit that the film bodies get very very little use these days. The lens you'll find on the D70s almost all of the time is my faithful 50mm f1.8 AF. It's light weight and fast. I also have 28mm f2.8 AIS and the 80-200mm f2.8 AF.

I use a D200. I also use a D70s, as well as some other non-Nikon (non-Canon) cameras.

I go out every weekend to various places around the state to photograph, usually with my 8-year-old niece who loves photography, as well.

I have a blog and a photoblog that I post to almost every day.

I have a D70 with the D70s firmware.
It's a great camera, I love it!
I also own the 80-200mm 2.8 Nikkor, the 50mm 1.8 and a 35-70mm, which I hardly ever use.
Planning on buying the 10.5mm fish, since that would come in handy for my action sports photography.
Check out my pics at www.106rallye.nl!

Not many D80's here, but that's what I shoot with (almost daily). 80% of the time I use the Nikkor 18-200mm VR walk-around lens, but when I want some portraits or depth of field I bring out the f1.8 50mm. Six gigs of memory and two batteries - super-handy on those extra long photowalks that I do.

I shoot RAW and process everything in Adobe Camera Raw, from time to time I do some retouching in Photoshop CS2.

I'm a student from Ireland, and I shoot with a Nikon D50, I love its 'chunkiness'. I have the kit lens, a Sigma 70-300 (the cheapest one), and also a 50mm f1.8. I have a neglected photoblog here: photosandponders.blogspot.com

I shoot with a D2x and mostly with a Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 AFS lens but also use my 80-200mm f/2.8 AF when I want to do some heavy lifting.
I am just a hobbyist when it comes down to it. My old profile blurb on MKII pointed out that I am a happy snapper and I think I still am, but with a busy work life and pretty full family life it is hard to changed that significantly, but I will keep chipping away at it.

I'm shooting mainly my D50. Every once in a while I get to steal the newsroom's Canons to play around with, (I work at a newspaper), but I still prefer my Nikon.

I havn't invested in too many lenses as of yet. Nik 50mm F1.8; Nik Kit Lens 28-80mm; and Nik 70-300mm.

You guys think of any lenses that would blow my mind for street photography? Maybe I need a wide angle next? Beats me.

Hi everyone, I'm using a D50 for more then a year now.
I have the 2 kitlenses 18-55mm and 55-200mm and bought the 50mm f1/4.
I'm a hobby/amateur photographer.

Hehe... I actually got invited at a conference and the professor that invited me lent me his lens because he bought a new one (18-200 VR I think). So I got to try that lens for the whole summer and get the option to buy it from him at the conference we're attending this summer for the modest price of ... a bottle of scotch! :P

Hi everyone, I shoot with a D80 that I got in April. That's my 1st dSLR so I'm not completly used to it yet but I'm sure I'll learn a lot here.
I just have a Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70 lens for the moment but I think I'll go for the 18-200 VR soon.

I currently have a D50 with the stock 18-55mm lens. I also have a 75-300mm (G?) lens left over from when I owned a F80. I also just bought a new compact point&shoot, a Coolpix S500. The image stabilization is amazing.

StevieB here! My kit is D200 (having upgraded last year from a D70) with 18-70, 55-200, 10.5 fisheye, and 105mm VR macro lenses.

I work as a director of a medium sized company, and I've been into photography for at least 38 years - I started with a Zenith SLR back in the 70's! Converted from film to digital about 2 years ago.

I'm very much into post-processing, not to do so-called "creative" stuff, but to make up for digital's weaknesses especially in latitude. My photography is mostly architectural and landscape.

I'm a D40 user, having had the camera since Christmas with standard kit zoom. Still getting to grips with it and on the look out for telephoto zoom and standard prime.

I too started with a Zenith (Zenit-E) in the late 70's, and have been using a fully manual Yashica FX3 since 1983.

I have both a Canon and a Nikon, I'm afraid. But my Canon is "only" an SD600, and I have 3 Nikons, a D70 and a D200, in addition to my F which is about a year older than I am. I also own an Agfa view camara that probably was made about the time my grandmother learned to walk.
The lenses I have are a 50mm f1.4, the 18-70mm kit lens that came with my D70, a 70-300mm D-Series zoom, and a Sigma 10-20mm zoom. I also have a Lensbaby of the older sort, and various teleconverters.
What I take pictures of varies with what is available and what strikes my fancy at the moment. Right now it is somewhat dictated by my for-the-moment favourite lens, the Sigma. Can't beat that 10mm for fitting lots of stuff into a single image!

Hello all.

I have two Nikons, a new D200 (just got it) and my older D50, which I'm using as a backup.

My key lenses are:

--18-200mm, which you can get with the D200 or separately. It's a very cool lens that does just about everything pretty well. The only drawback is its somewhat slow aperture (f3.5-5.6). Still, a great walking-around lens.

--50mm f1.8, which is an excellent lens that is very fast and very sharp. And very, very cheap (little more than $100 US).

Now, can Nikon build an 18-200 with a 1.8 aperture? That would be special. But I guess that's why we have interchangeable lenses...

I have the D40 which I bought several months ago, and I think it is quite a spectacular camera for the price. My assortment of lenses includes the 18-55mm stock lens, the 55-200mm (non VR), and two E Series lenses: the 28mm f/2.8 and the 50mm f/1.8, which are both older than me.

If you're familiar with the E Series lenses you'll know that (1) they're manual focus and (2) they don't meter on today's digital cameras, which means they're tricky to use. But they're also really cheap, super sharp and fast. Despite their drawbacks I probably use them more than my zooms these days. Since I do a lot of macro and night photography, autofocus and autoexposure aren't very important anyway.

I use a d200 which is my first dslr. I had been waiting for the quality of digital images to surpass 35mm film and the capability to continue using my old nikkor lenses. It has really rekindled my interest in photography by giving me instant results. Before that I'd been photographing with medium and large format cameras which are great if you have time to spend, but are really not that convenient.

Most of my lenses are fairly ancient (>25 years). A 55mm f/1.2, 24mm f/2.8, 20mm f/3.5, 50mm f/1.8 series E, 50-135mm f/3.5, 135mm f/2.8 but I've also broken down and picked up a 35mm f/2 auto focus and a Sigma 10-20mm zoom. I think that the 55 mm and the 10-20 my current favorites.

Hi there,

I use Nikon SLR (F55 I think) and used to use a Nikon Coolpix 4000.

Waiting for my Coolpix p5000 :D

Don't do too much editing since I don't believe in it, just usual balance and exposure.

cheers

Hey Nikonians!

Well, I truly love Nikon bodies and optics (my family has been using it for ages)

What I have:

Nikon D70
18-70 f3.5-5.6
70-300 f4-5.6
50 f1.8
28-80 f3.3-5.6

Nikon N55
Nikon 2020

The 2020 is a delightful camera to use. It was Nikon's first auto-focus SLR available to the general market, and it is a solid shooter!

Of course, the D70 is also amazing, and cost efficient. I have a 4 gig CF and 2 batteries.

Hello all,

My name is Ben and I do some Web stuff sometimes. I shoot with a D50. I love it. I use a few different lenses. The 50mm 1.8 is my fav as well - cheap, fast, and durable ... best lens ever. I also use the 18-55 kit lens as well as a Tamron 75-300 (slow, but it was cheap and it's a tele). I've been on Zooomr for a while, but I've been busy so I am catching up on uploading.

Let me know if I can be of any service!

Hello everyone. My name is Tom and I'm a podcaster , hardware/software engineer, and amateur photographer. I shoot mainly with a Nikon D40 that I've only had for a few months. I has the stock 18-55 mm lens and a new Nikon 55-200 VR lens.

I've been processing my photos as JPEGs but want to start shooting in RAW but I'm not sure what software I should buy. The problem is I have been doing my work on Windows XP but I just purchased a iMac so I'm not sure if I want to continue with Windows or move my photo work to the Mac. I don't want to buy the software twice so any suggestions would be appreciated. Currently I'm leaning towards the Mac. I still plan to used both machine for other tasks going forward.

Hi there,

My name is Christian and i'm a student in Germany. I am _NOT_ using digital cameras!

Most pictures i take using my Nikon F65. A quite underestimated camera with excellent features. The usual flaws in Nikon's lower class as cutted view are present but the rest is awesome. (you won't see everything what will be on the paper)

Some pictures are taken with my Nikon F2. Those pictures look awesome but it takes some time! (No winder or electronic helpers except for the exposure meter wich was new when the F2 came out)

Hi StevieB!

I'm not a Nikon user, actually my DSLR is Olympus E400, and my film cameras are Minolta Dynax7000i... but why do I reply to your post... because I own a Zenith EM Olympik.. black and purely mechanical.. with a nice set of lenses. Good enough to double-up as a hammer if you need to bash a few things. Just thought I'd let you know.

Hi Jordimussol! So you also have a Zenith? I gave mine away many years ago when I bought a Nikkormat from a pro friend of mine. But that old Zenith was a great start to "proper" photography. Among other things I bought extension tubes for it and did some macro stuff although that pushed its cheap lens beyond its capability, I think! Amazing that you still have your Zenith!

D70 User here (1/500th Flash sync rocks!) Loyal to Nikon since purchasing an F3 while on Active Duty in the Air Force (circa 1985). The F3 was like a true friend, at my side at all times. I loved photography so much, I shot so much that I was eventually awarded a Photojournalist job specialty code (AFSC for those of you that speak the acronyms) on top of my primary Radar Maintenance AFSC. I left the Air Force to work for Agfa and despite free film and processing I shot only off and on in between working too many hours. In the mid 90s my F3 and entire outfit was stolen from a dirt bag apartment complex in Petaluma (northern) California. I pretty much hung up the vest and stopped shooting for several years. Then kids came along, I shot kids with a new F100 but just didn't experience the creative urges anymore. Then I was given (ironically), a digital Cannon "work camera" point and shoot to document accidents and issues (somewhere along the way I jumped from Agfa to a career in Public Transit Management). I carried the point and shoot for a few years and detested digital photography. My F3 was stolen, Agfa was all but out of business and I was a new father with hungry babies to feed, photographer went on the back burner, way back burner... Along about 2002 I went on a business trip to DC - on a whim I took the point and shoot and spent a few days exploring our nation's capital. I discovered on that trip that "hey, you can do some stuff with this digital thing..." and then, nearly 3 years ago I asked for the D70 for my 40th birthday. Now photography is more then ever part of who I am, photography is my escape, my way of enjoying all that makes the world what it is. Along with the D70 I can be spotted with a Tokina 12-24mm, Nikon 70-200 f2.8, Nikon 80-400 VR, SB-800 flash, 8 stop ND filter, all portaged in a Lowepro Compact AW. I'm saving pennies for a D300...

BUT recently I've been shooting often with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 Point & Shoot - I'm finding that getting back to the basics is pushing my creative eye in happy directions...

Seems like this post is so long I might as well discuss post processing. I have been using iView Media pro for sorting & cataloging, CS2/3 for editing and most of the end result is uploaded to Flickr and more and more on Zooomr. I've recently been "playing" with Lightroom and I am very seriously thinking about converting from iView to Lightroom.... Ok I'll shut-up now...
